The International Education and Foreign Language Studies domestic programs are designed to strengthen the capability and performance of American education in foreign languages and in area and international studies. Overseas programs are intended to improve secondary and postsecondary teaching and research concerning other cultures and languages, training of specialists, and the American public's general understanding of the peoples of other countries.

Title VI: Domestic International Education Programs
Fulbright-Hays: Overseas Programs
 
Under Title VI of the Higher Education Act, IEPS administers 10 domestic programs that provide a variety of grants to institutions of higher education and individuals for projects in foreign languages, area or international studies, and international business.

American Overseas Research Centers
This program offers grants to consortia of U.S. institutions of higher education to establish or operate overseas centers to promote postgraduate research, exchanges, and area studies.

Business and International Education
This program provides matching grants to colleges and universities to internationalize the business curriculum and to promote links between academic institutions and the American business community. Centers for International Business Education
This program provides funding to U.S. schools of business for curriculum development, research and training on issues of importance to U.S. trade and competitiveness. Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships
This program provides academic year and summer fellowship awards to colleges and universities to assist graduate students in foreign language and either international studies or area studies. Institute for International Public Policy
This program provides a single grant to assist a consortium of colleges and universities to establish an institute designed to increase the representation of minorities in international service. International Research and Studies
This program supports surveys, studies and instructional materials development for foreign language, area, and related international studies. Language Resource Centers
This program awards grants to centers at institutions of higher education to help improve the nation's capacity to teach and learn foreign languages through teacher training, research, materials development and dissemination projects. National Resource Centers
This program awards grants to colleges and universities to strengthen and maintain U.S. capacity in foreign languages, area and international studies expertise. Technological Innovation and Cooperation for Foreign Information Access
This program supports projects that will develop innovative techniques or programs using new electronic technologies to collect information from foreign sources. Grants will be made to access, collect, organize, preserve, and widely disseminate information on world regions and countries other than the United States that address our nation's teaching and research needs in international education and foreign languages. Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language
This program awards grants to institutions of higher education as well as public and private non-profit agencies to plan, develop and carry out programs to strengthen undergraduate instructions in international studies and foreign languages.
